The Rantings Of A Madman 3
Yeah, I know-- the haters can immediately try to prove me wrong by saying things like "you might get sick" or "if you break your leg, then you can't work out!" I see your point-- but let's look at the majority of your life, the majority of the time. When you come in to take class, or you turn on your audio class, or you walk into whatever gym or fitness center or local park or basement you normally work out in, you're making a choice to better your health, and your body. You're taking complete control over the one thing you have complete control over-- YOURSELF. Maybe your company downsized and you have a nasty new boss-- out of your control. Maybe your girlfriend decided she'd rather date your best friend-- again, out of your control. But when you decide that you want to be in the best shape of your life-- well, that's completely do-able, and it's totally up to you. No one is ever going to tie you to your couch and cram food down your gullet, I promise you. (and if you honestly feel in danger of that happening, I'm more than happy to teach you a few moves to guarantee your escape)
So why do people have so many excuses for why they've gained weight, or stopped working out? You don't have to belong to a fancy gym, you don't need any equipment, you can work out anytime, in any place... so why don't we? Why do we continuously self-sabotage ourselves and deny ourselves the results that we know will only make us feel better?
For example, if you decide that your best opportunity to work out is directly after your workday ends, on your way home-- why do you continue to drive past the gym and skip that workout in favor of an evening spent on the couch eating ice cream? You know as well as I do that you're just going to feel badly about yourself- and be even less likely to go to the gym tomorrow.
Next time you feel that self-sabotage creeping up on you, try this: decide then and there that you will only be required to work out (or stay at the gym) for 15 minutes. That's all. Who doesn't have 15 minutes? After 15 minutes is up-- you're free to go home to your couch and your ice cream.
I can almost guarantee that that 15 minutes will turn into a half hour or longer-- and that you'll feel so great once you get moving, you'll forget all about that ice cream....
So try it. Make that choice to TAKE BACK YOUR BODY! It really is the only thing you have complete control over. And I'm here to help you in any way I can.

Mental Babble (Mind Over Babble)It is often what a person tells themselves which makes the most difference. In other words, what they think, becomes their reality. Or, "Perception is Reality." For instance, after a good night’s sleep, a person should wake with renewed vigor and eagerness. Instead, they think, “I don’t feel like working today.” They will start to resent the fact they must work. They may not get past this resentment until the afternoon- if then. Everyone suffers from down days. Not everyone can be positive all the time. This is completely true for me. We all experience days where nothing seems to go right. There are days when we do not want to work. There will seem to be one crisis after another. It's these days that our internal voice keeps repeating to us everything that is wrong, or not working out well. It takes much more mental energy to deal with even small difficulties on these types of days.
The solution is surprisingly simple. Silence that inner voice. Even if only for a second, recognize that a situation is only bad when you perceive it to be bad. I know this is easier said than done! While you're trying to get in the right frame of mind, it may seem no one around you wants you to accomplish this goal. It is mentally fatiguing. What people are searching for is renewed energy. The ability to work with focus and a purpose which gives them the ability to go at full speed. We must learn to stop repeating our current inner thoughts. I once read in a Deepak Chopra book (I believe 'Magic Mind, Magic Body') that most people's thoughts are 93% repetitive-- but that's not the problem. The problem is that almost all of those thoughts are negative, dis-empowering, and self-deprecating.
Think about-- when you decide you need to work out, what do you say to yourself? "I'm fat." "I'm really out of shape, how did I let myself get so disgusting?" How does that help you get to the gym? Exactly. It doesn't. When you perceive yourself as fat and disgusting, it sadly becomes your reality.
So let's change our perceptions to reflect our reality.
Power Mental Exercise: Quickly jot down some of your repetitive thoughts. Remember to be honest and don't censor yourself!
Example: "I'm exhausted. My body and brain hurt, I can't shoot a video today"

I have always been fascinated with energy. Not the
stick-your-finger-in-the-electric-socket kind of energy, but rather "mind and
body" energy. My goal is to optimize the highs, power through the lows, and get
the most energy possible.
I’m the leader of a tribe. We're a tribe of thousands. We meet every day and
go through an almost spiritual ritual together--my kickboxing class. Our tribe
is a blissful utopia for Maniacs who are addicted to adrenaline, who crave that
post-class feeling of shaking hands and torn knuckles, exhausted muscles and
sweat-soaked clothing. The Maniacs who keep returning for more muscle-shredding
results, day after day, year after year....
“We are a tribe because we join and live in a state of energy I can’t describe
in words, it can only be felt.”
Energy is the key word. So let's investigate... Join me as I search through
foods, pills, potions and workouts-- on a quest to discover the secret to
"Endless Energy"!!!
